Good morning from The Seawall. The festival forecast for Saturday is: festivals.
Four of them, across all three counties, in defiance of an 80% rain chance. Free Flowin' Fest in Pascagoula. Second Saturday in Old Town BSL. Taco Fest at Fort Maurepas. The Pass Market at Pass Christian. Plus the Root Beer and Bacon 5K at 7 AM in Long Beach (the finish line is, literally, bacon) and Staind at the Coliseum at night. Bring the rain gear. None of them are calling it.
Then Sunday is Mother's Day — a touch drier, a touch warmer, and the Mary C. closes its Jazz Fest with Los Lonely Boys at 7 PM.
But the marquee picture is bigger than the festivals. Chicago — the band — is at Beau Rivage for three straight nights. Friday, Saturday, and a Mother's Day matinee on Sunday. Alison Krauss & Union Station plays The Sound in Gautier on Friday. And Cedric Burnside, the Grammy-winning North Mississippi blues guitarist, plays a Mother's Day Blues Brunch at 100 Men Hall on Sunday at 11 AM. That last one is the stealth pick of the weekend.
Here's the rundown — events first, then everything live and loud.

Coast Forecast
Thu May 7 — Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 3 PM. High 77 | Wind SW 5–10, NW PM | 60% precip
Fri May 8 — 50% chance showers + storms after 10 AM. High 75 | Low 70 | Wind NE 5–10
Sat May 9 — Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High 78 | Low 72 | Wind S 5–10 | 80% precip
Sun May 10 (Mother's Day) — Showers likely + possibly a storm; partly sunny. High 80 | Low 69 | Wind S 5–10 | 70% precip
Bottom line: Wet weekend, period. Saturday's the loaded day on the schedule but the wettest one on the radar — every festival listed above is running anyway. Sunday is marginally drier and warmer (80°), so if you're picking ONE outdoor block, pick Mother's Day morning. Brunch picks below assume covered or indoor.

If last week was about introducing ourselves, this week is more about getting into rhythm.
And the rhythm right now looks pretty Coast-like: a little activity, a little local color, and a few reasons to leave the house before the weekend gets away from you.

House of the Week
[PLACEHOLDER — Rob to provide MLS pick + photo. Mother's-Day-weekend angle: a covered-porch home with a kitchen worth cooking brunch in is the natural this-weekend pitch.]
Reader Question of the Week
"Mother is in town for the weekend and we want to walk through a couple of houses with her — but every open house I see is Sunday afternoon. Do agents do private showings on Mother's Day, or am I better off rescheduling?" — J.K., Gulfport
Short answer: yes, agents work Mother's Day — and the morning is your window.
Three things to know. One, listing agents on the Coast are absolutely available for private showings on Mother's Day weekend, especially before noon. The half-day before brunch (9 AM – 11 AM) is the sweet spot — agents can fit you in before they pivot to their own afternoon, and sellers have usually staged for showings since Saturday. Two, ask your buyer's agent to bundle three or four properties into a single 90-minute window the same day. Coast inventory is at a three-year spring high, which means you can be picky about the cluster. Three, if Mom is the one you're shopping for, time the route so the last walk-through ends near a brunch you've already booked — covered porch, kitchen island, view of the Sound. The home sells the lifestyle when the timing matches it.
The move: text your agent today, ask for a 9 AM Sunday window with three picks within ten minutes of each other, and put brunch at 11.

PET ADOPTION OF THE WEEK
Meet Sky — four years of striking-blue-eyed husky-mix calm.
A housetrained adult dog at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, Sky is the easy pitch in a shelter currently holding 101 adoptable pets. Husky mix, four years old, female — past the chew-everything puppy stage, settled enough that what you see is what you get, photogenic enough that her listing photo does most of the work.
Four years is the sweet spot for the household that's done the puppy thing once and would rather skip it the second time. She's housetrained — the single biggest variable for a smooth first week — and a husky mix means she's wired to be social, food-motivated, and walkable.

LOW TIDE LAUGHS
A Coast newsletter should probably make room for at least one thing that doesn’t ask anything from you except a smirk.
So we are.
There is no weather condition that cancels Second Saturday in Old Town Bay St. Louis. The ponchos come out, the tacos come out, and the crowd shows up. This week's Low Tide Laughs was there.
